Import from Chadwyck

Note: Unlike the other platforms in this guide, the Chadwyck platform is a chameleon; the colors, fields, and exporting records are different among the different databases.  You may need to consult the help menu for more information on saving and exporting records.

Use these instructions for the following databases with the Chadwyck platform:

ABELL: Annual Bib. of English Language & Literature     Black Studies Center
Chicago Defender Digital National Security Archive
Film Index International Gerritsen Collection (Women's History Online)
Historical Newspaper Online House of Commons Parliamentary Papers
International Index to Black Periodicals International Index to Music Periodicals
Interational Index to the Performing Arts LION: Literature Online
Music and Performing Arts Online Patralogia Latina
Periodicals Archive Online Periodical Index Online
TESO: Teatro Español del Siglo de Oro

 

Steps:

  1. Search Database.
  2. Mark, save, check the boxes next to the records you want to export.
  3. Click Email Selected Records, Selected Records or Marked List, depending on the database.
  4. If you can download the citations, click Download. You will then be presented with two options, a or b:
    1. Export directly to… ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager

                                          i.    Click Export Directly to.. ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager.

                                         ii.    In the pop-up download window you will be given two options: Open with Web Export Helper (default) and Save File.

                                        iii.    Choose Open with Web Export Helper (default).

    1. Download in a format compatible with ProCite, EndNote, Reference Manager and RefWorks 

                                          i.    After selecting this option, click Download.

                                         ii.    Save file to your desktop. You may want to rename it and move it to your preferred folder.

                                        iii.    Follow the directions about Importing a saved Text File.

  • For Import Option select Reference Manager (RIS).

                                        iv.    Double check your imported References.  Make changes as necessary.

  1. If you have to email them (i.e. International Index to Black Periodicals), you will now have to import these references manually- follow instructions for New Reference (Manual Entry of a Reference).
