Music: Department Recordings Service

Program Description

Starting in September 2024, the Library will provide streaming access to new recordings of student performances made by the Music Department.

  • Access to these student performances will be via the Library’s Aviary platform, which streams audio and video content from the Library’s digital collections.
  • Music Department faculty and students can search for performances on the main Aviary page or browse within the UCSB Music Department Recordings Collection.
  • Recordings will be able to be streamed or downloaded by request for a period of three years in total and files will be deleted on a quarterly basis.
  • Associated programs from performances and information about performances will be accessible to the general public and searchable within the Aviary platform.
  • To ensure the rights of the performers, recordings will only be uploaded if a release form is completed by the student.

Music Department Responsibilities

  • A Music Department representative will sign a Creative Commons license agreement, allowing the Library to provide access to the program's materials.
  • On an ongoing basis, the Music Department will direct student performers to the public LibGuide page, which describes the program and links to the release form that each student performer must complete for every performance.
  • Upload the performance .wav file and associated concert program .pdf file to the Library in the following Box https://ucsb.box.com/s/9z5wsicdknrh07s29g6gggzzakhmn4ld (you may initially need to be granted access to upload items; if so, please contact erikajohnson at ucsb.edu.)
    • The Music department will use the following file naming convention for each file: [FirstName_LastName_MM-DD-YYYY]
    • Files will be uploaded to the appropriate folder - one for performance files and another for program files.
