Exhibitions: Resources for Curators of Library Exhibitions: Components of a Library Exhibition

A guide to assist librarians, faculty, or students who are creating an exhibition in UCSB Library.

Components of a Library Exhibition

UCSB Library exhibitions include the following components: (1) exhibit objects; (2) communication (presentation) media; and (3) text information to be communicated. Does an exhibit unit have to include all three of these components? Not necessarily! For example, a text panel alone would be an exhibit (although not necessarily a particularly effective one). Some exhibits include only media and text information (e.g., an interactive computer).
