Whether you are the curator or simply want to incorporate a Library exhibition into a course, the following are examples of ways other faculty have taught with exhibitions:
- Ask students to visit the exhibition on their own and react to it with a creative work of their own.
- Contact the Library to arrange an organized tour for a class or section.
- Ask students to develop additional content such as a bibliography on exhibition theme. Ask the Library if additional content can be included in an online exhibition.
- Design a writing assignment around the exhibition or exhibition theme.
- Ask students to do additional reading on exhibition theme.
- Ask students to rewrite the labels presented in the exhibition.
- Ask students to critique the exhibition. For example, did they learn something new about the topic presented.
- Include students on the exhibition development team
UCSB Library also welcomes the opportunity to exhibit artwork by students or faculty or to present exhibitions curated by students and/or faculty. More information and to propose an exhibition.
