Turn around and head back toward the Paseo. You are now going into the Ocean Side (South) of the library. If you were outside, you'd be heading toward the ocean. You can tell you're on the Ocean Side of the library when you see the ocean elevators.
Continue south, past 1575, and before you run into the large window there will be an alcove with the Adaptive Technology Center (Room 1591). The ATC has equipment to help students with disabilities use library resources easier. To use the ATC, you need to be registered with the Disabled Students Program who will activate your Access Card to use on the card-reader at the door. If you have an questions, please contact the Disabled Students Program.
The ATC has 6 computers and the following equipment and software:
Fun fact: The ATC has been a dedicated space in the library since 1989, and was renovated in 2019 by grant funds from the Advisory Committee on Campus Access (ACCA).
At the far end of the Ocean Side of the UCSB Library is the UCSB Transfer Student Center (TSC), a campus center that shares our space. The TSC offers resources geared toward helping students who have transferred to UCSB thrive academically and socially. They provide study space, academic advising, peer mentors, and workshops on academic, social, and financial topics. Learn more about them on their website.
CITRAL is library partner located in 1576; it is a new space primarily aimed at faculty and graduate students, but there is help for undergraduates, too! This service helps undergraduates connect by providing support for undergraduate research, mentorship, and workshops on data and information literacy.
From the Transfer Student Center (TSC) and CITRAL, turn right and head back toward the Davidson Entrance. Here is the Current Serials Collection. This browsable collection of newspapers and popular magazines are here for your use in research or just catching up with the news. Refer to UC Library Search to learn more about these titles (retention period, if they are available online, etc.)
