Open Access Week Events

Open Access Week is celebrated annually internationally. It is a time when people worldwide get together and take action in various ways to raise awareness surrounding "the importance of community control of knowledge-sharing systems." (International Open Access Week)

Here are some events the UCSB Library has hosted to celebrate the International Open Access Week:

UCSB Library and the Community-led Open Publication Infrastructures for Monographs (COPIM) Project
Presented by Eileen Joy, Founder and Director of Punctum Books, and Lidia Uziel, Associate University Librarian for Research Resources and Scholarly Communication at UCSB.
Assessing Open Educational Resource (OER) Needs for High Enrollment Classes at UCSB.
Presented by Angela Chikowero, Research and Engagement Librarian at UCSB and Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) Open Education Leadership Fellow.
Open Access and Climate Justice
Arranged by the UCSB Library & Punctum Books. Three UCSB researchers and two guest scholars discussed how their work intersects with, directly addresses, and/or is impacted by climate change and how they perceive the mission of climate justice in their work.
