GATEWAY SITES

  • A Guide to Africa on the Internet. A freely available guide leading to Africa-related material on the internet. Maintained by The Nordic Africa Institute, it is a research-oriented link collection, which is divided into country and subject resources.
  • Digital Librarian's Guide to Web Resources. Links to all aspects of African American life and culture.
  • Civil Rights Digital Library. One of the most ambitious and comprehensive efforts to date to deliver educational content on the Civil Rights Movement via the Web.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Political Maps of the Continent of Africa. Created by the Central Intelligence Agency, posted at the University of Texas Libraries
  • BlackPast.org. Includes an online encyclopedia of hundreds of famous and lesser-known figures in African America, full-text primary documents, and major speeches of black activists and leaders from the 18th Century to the present
  • Black Central Europe. A collection of historical sources in English and German. The collection has over 1000 years of Black history in the German-speaking lands.
  • Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Founded by Carter G. Woodson, originator of Black History Month (day, originally); sponsors, promotes, and publicizes research in Black history.
  • Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Supports efforts by Latin America and the Caribbean countries to reduce poverty and inequality. We aim to bring about development in a sustainable, climate-friendly way.
  • Latin American Network Information Center. Affiliated with the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) at the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Stone Center Guide to the Web. From the Sonja Haynes Stone Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Journal of Pan African Studies (JPAS). A trans-disciplinary peer reviewed scholarly journal devoted to the intellectual synthesis of research, scholarship and critical thought on the African experience.
