Welcome! ¡Bienvenido! Bemvindo! Benvinguts!

This guide should get you started on your LA&IS research. You'll probably also want to check the guides for Spanish & Portuguese, Chicana/o Studies and other disciplines you are studying (History, Sociology, Education). If you are having a challenging time with your research question you can make an appointment with me for a research consultation.

For those of you who've never had an appointment with me, here's what you can expect:

  • We can go over your topic and see if there's a lot written about your topic (so you might have to narrow it), or see if there's not much written (so you might have to broaden or diversify your question).
  • We can go over everything from basic to advanced search strategies and techniques and identify library databases that would be most helpful for your research question.
  • We can make sure you haven't missed that one critical source for your topic.
  • I can help you set up citation manager tools that can help you manage your research notes and citations.

While I'm happy to help at any stage, these sessions are more productive if you can let me know what you've done up till now (search words, where you have searched etc.)
