Introduction to the UCSB Library for GGSE Students: Course Reserves and Library Instruction

An introduction to the UCSB Librarry and its services for students in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.

Course Rserves

Course Reserves are course-related materials made available, either electronically or physically, through the UC Santa Barbara Library. Items that may be on reserve for a class include: books, videos, course readers, textbooks, ebooks, articles, book chapters, journal articles, recordings, class handouts, and information.

As the Library re-opens, physical items on reserve will become available in addition to the electronic course reserves.

For more information, on course reserves and how instructors can put items on reserve for their students., see:

Library Instruction

The library offers a variety of instructional services aimed at helping users become more adept at identifying, locating, and accessing print and electronic information resources in the UCSB Library and beyond.

Among the instructional approaches we provide are:

  • In-person instruction sessions tailored for a specific course or specific assignment. (We can also offer these via Zoom for remote learning.)
  • Video recordings that can be linked from or embedded in GauchoSpace pages
  • Course guides - Research guides with resources and tips selected for a specific course (see: Course Guides below for examples.)
  • Handouts and other printed materials designed for your students.

Librarians can also work with you to design assignments and lectures that will take the best advantage of library resources for you students.
