HIST 9: Commodity Histories (Chattopadhyaya, Fall 2025): Home

Your assignment is to write an 8-page original research paper on an aspect of the global and transnational production and circulation of a commodity. Your paper should include 4-5 primary sources of at least two different kinds (e.g., government reports, newspaper accounts, photographs, speeches, and the like) and at least 3 secondary sources.

Use this guide as a starting point to find both print and online materials for your research. Depending on your topic, you will also want to explore subject guides such as those for Economics, Black Studies, Political Science, Sociology, World History, and others.
