Library Research Guide

Finding Books

To find books, use a catalog.

UC Library Search will help you find books, DVDs, government documents, maps other materials at other UCSB Library and beyond.  Look for the UC-eLinks or Get it at UC button to request to have books sent to you through interlibrary loan.

Find something you like? Jot down the book's location and call number. Use the library location guide to find out what floor your book is shelved on or ask for directions at the Services Desk.

Search for books and government information (such as guidebooks published by the California Department of Fish & Game), using key words describing your topic until you find material that suits your needs. For example, try using these words in your searches:

california wetland*
identification california fish*
(fish* retrieves fish, fishes, fisheries, etc.)
