Welcome! iBienvenidos!

This guide should get you started on your Chicana/o Studies research. You'll probably also want to check the guides for  Latin American & Iberian Studies, and the discipline you are studying (History, Sociology... you get the idea).

Researching topics on Chicano and Latino studies can be tricky and things can get complicated real quick. However, we have here at UCSB one of the most comprehensive collections in Chicana/o studies and am ready to help you as you get started or  help you with research projects already started but where you feel you need to improve your strategies or broaden the information resources to complete your research.

Whether it be secondary sources like books and journal articles or primary sources such as archives and manuscripts, interviews, and oral histories, there is a rich variety of secondary source materials in the Coleccion Tloque Nahuaque (in the library's 2nd floor Ethnic and Gender Studies Collections) as well as primary sources in the California Ethnic and Multicultural Archives (in the library's 3rd floor Department of Special Collections).

I am available to help you on a one-to-one basis either as a drop-in or by appointment. I just need to know what is your topic, what sources you have searched so far and what you have located to date. Then we can go from there and I can show you some tools and strategies to help you increase your reach and help you to save valuable time.

Need some tools so you can cite your sources? Need to created a formatted bibliography in record time? No problem, just see me.

Please explore this site and give me feedback if you can think of anything that's missing. Remember - this is for YOU so let me know how it can be better.
