Coastal Media Project: Accessing Material

This guide is for the Coastal Media Project to conduct research at Special Research Collections

Requesting Materials

Special Research Collections materials are non-circulating. This means they can only be viewed by appointment in our Reading Room.

Materials are stored in secure stacks and are not available to browse; use a finding guide to learn more about the collection's contents.

Once you have located material that you would like to see, you'll need to request the material using your Special Research Collections account.

You can make your requests directly from the Finding Guide by selecting "Request Items"

Once you have selected the material you want to see, be sure to follow up with Public Services to schedule an appointment in our Reading Room.

Audiovisual materials (Film, Video, Audio) must be digitized before they can be accessed. Ask Public Services if the item you want is available.

Register for your Research Account

Special Collections Research Account is required to request materials and appointments in our Reading Room.

UC Santa Barbara faculty, staff, and students will use their Net ID and Password for registration.
