Tips for using the UC Library Search Box
- You can search in English or Japanese (either using Japanese characters or Hepburn Romanization)
- If you want to control your results don't type keywords in the basic search box, instead, click on the Advanced Search link (below the search box), where you can control what type of material you want to search for first, e.g., books, articles, films, etc.
- If using phrases, use quotation marks to make sure your research results are relevant to your topic, e.g., Japan AND “gender discrimination”
A Selection of Japanese E-book Databases
- BookPlusIndexes to print books published in Japan since 1926. Summaries and tables of contents are available for the books published since 1986. Author information is provided for the books published since 2001. Holding information updated every two weeks.
- Maruzen eBook Library-All titles are discoverable in library's catalog.
-Only one simultaneous access to Maruzen is allowed.
-We own some ebooks and have access to others. An ebook purchase is triggered when any user of a participating UC campus reviews an ebook for 10 minutes or longer. The cost of the ebook is shared by the participating campuses.
-New ebooks are added every 6 months.
