COURSE DESCRIPTION
Writing 105CR addresses the role of rhetoric as a social and communicative act in cultural communities. We will examine the connection between rhetoric and conceptions about race, class, gender, sexuality, and nation in cultural communities. We will consider how rhetoric forms cultural communities and shapes the dominant narratives that are produced about these various communities. Importantly, we will also spend time analyzing rhetorical strategies used in counternarratives that challenge and revise misrepresentations of communities through gathering, evaluating, and incorporating primary and secondary sources.
