Importing Citations into ORCID through Google Scholar

If you have a populated Google Scholar Profile and would like to import your citations into ORCID, follow these steps:

  1. Login to your Google Scholar account
  2. Go to My Profile
    1. This can be found under the three horizontal lines in the top left corner of the web page
  3. Select the box next to "TITLE" under your name to select all records
    1. Or select the relevant results that you'd like to export
  4. Select EXPORT at the top of the list
  5. The BibTeX file will open in your browser
  6. Right-click on your browser window and Save As
    1. If you do not see the option to Save As, copy the url into a different browser 
    2. Select the destination to save the file, such as your desktop
    3. Save the file as .bib (not as .bib.txt)
  7. Sign in to your ORCID profile
    1. Scroll to the Works Section and select the Add (plus) button on the right)
    2. Select Add BibTeX
    3. Go to the location you saved your file to and add it
