To find books, use a catalog.

The UCSB Library Catalog will help you find books, DVDs, government documents, maps and more that are held at UCSB.

Find something you like? Jot down the book's location and call number. Use the library location guide to find out what floor your book is shelved on or ask for directions at the reference desk.

The Melvyl Catalog will help you find books and other materials at other UC libraries and beyond.  Look for the button to request to have books sent to you through interlibrary loan.

Search for books and government information (such as guidebooks published by the California Department of Fish & Game), using key words describing your topic until you find material that suits your needs. For example, try using these words in your searches:

california wetland*

identification california fish*

(fish* retrieves fish, fishes, fisheries, etc.)
